Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Subpath — the web editor at subpath.dev, the desktop app, and the optional cloud account. Subpath is operated by Griffen Fargo. By using the service you agree to what follows.

1. Using the editor without an account

The complete editor works locally and does not require an account. You may use it for personal or commercial work at no cost. Documents you create locally are stored in your browser or on your computer, and no part of these terms grants us rights over them.

2. Your content

You keep all rights to the artwork, paths, and files you create, import, or export. We claim no ownership of your work and do not use it to train models.

If you enable cloud sync, you grant us only the narrow permission needed to run the feature: storing, transmitting, and displaying your documents back to you and to anyone you deliberately share a link with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for having the rights to whatever you upload, and for what you choose to publish through a share link.

3. Accounts

A cloud account is optional and exists to sync documents across devices and to carry a paid plan. Keep your sign-in address secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

You can delete your account and its cloud data at any time from account settings. Deleting a cloud account does not touch documents stored locally on your devices.

4. Plans, billing, and renewal

Paid plans are billed annually through Stripe, which handles payment details directly — we never receive your full card number. Current list prices are $2.99 for the Cloud founding first year ($4.99 on renewal) and $9.99 per year for Premium. The pricing page is authoritative for what is currently offered.

Plans renew automatically at the then-current renewal price unless you cancel before the renewal date. Cancelling stops future charges and leaves your plan active through the end of the period you already paid for. We will give notice before a price change affects a renewal.

If the service does not do what this page and the pricing page say it does, contact us and we will refund you. Beyond that, payments are generally non-refundable except where local consumer law requires otherwise.

5. AI credits

AI shape generation is a paid entitlement metered in credits, not an unlimited feature. Paid plans include a monthly credit allowance — 100 on Cloud, 500 on Premium — which resets each calendar month and does not roll over.

You may also buy credit packs (100 credits for $1.99, 1,500 credits for $19.99). Purchased credits do not expire and are spent only after the monthly allowance is exhausted. Credit packs are consumable and non-refundable once spent.

Different generation qualities cost different amounts of credits; the editor shows the cost before you spend it. If a generation fails or returns nothing usable, the credits for that request are returned to your balance. AI output is generated automatically — it may be imprecise or unsuitable, and you should review it before relying on it.

6. Storage limits and retention

Each paid plan has a document count, storage size, and version-history window listed on the pricing page. Deleted cloud documents stay recoverable from trash for 30 days, and version history is retained for 30 days on Cloud and 90 days on Premium. Older versions and expired trash are removed automatically.

Cloud storage is a convenience, not a backup service. Keep your own copies of work you cannot afford to lose — the editor exports local files at any time.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use Subpath to:

  • break the law or infringe someone else's rights;
  • upload or generate content that is unlawful, or that harasses or endangers others;
  • probe, overload, or interfere with the service, other accounts, or the systems behind them;
  • automate access in a way that circumvents credit metering, plan limits, or billing;
  • resell the hosted service or share one account across an organization.

8. Beta status

Cloud and desktop features are in beta. They may change, break, or be withdrawn, and availability is not guaranteed. We will not knowingly remove a feature you are actively paying for without notice and a refund of the unused portion. Local editing is the part of Subpath designed to keep working regardless.

9. Service changes and termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or that we are legally required to act on; where circumstances allow, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data. If we discontinue the hosted service entirely, we will give reasonable notice, an export window, and a prorated refund of any unused paid time.

10. Warranty and liability

The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will preserve any particular file.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and if you are a consumer you keep the statutory rights your local law gives you.

11. Source code

Subpath's source is published on GitHub. These terms govern the hosted service and the distributed desktop app; they do not themselves grant you any rights to the source code. Whether and how you may reuse the code is determined by the license in the repository, separately from this agreement.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. The revision date below always reflects the current version, and we will give notice through the app before a material change affects a paid plan. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept it.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms, billing, or your account can be raised through our support channel. Do not include private document contents or credentials in a public report.
